TDI Chapter #220 - Therapy Dogs International Ch #220 ~ Fresno, CA
What are Tail Waggin' Tutors?

Tail Waggin' Tutors are therapy dogs that visit schools and libraries so that children can practice reading to them.

TDI's Tail Waggin' Tutor program helps young readers develop their skills by giving them one-on-one time with a furry, patient listener. Children who may be shy reading in front of peers will often willingly read to a friendly dog. This builds confidence and makes reading enjoyable. Dogs do not mind if you make mistakes!

We need more Tutors! We have many local libraries desiring Tutors, and we may soon be in schools as well. You do not need previous teaching or tutoring experience. A typical Tutoring session lasts only an hour, but it can make a tremendous difference to a child learning to read!

Would you like to do this with your dog?
Come observe one of our local Tutors in action. Contact our Visits Coordinator Ruby Houlihan at 559-435-0874 or email hollylucy@yahoo.com to arrange to sit in on a session. And attend our next Orientation - see Events page for schedule.
